Eyebrow Design by Face Shape in Gangnam: Finding the Arch That Suits You

The Short Answer

There is no single eyebrow shape that suits every face. A good design starts with your bone structure and the natural direction of your existing brow hair. As a general guide, a round face often suits a gentle angular arch, a long face often suits a straighter brow, a square face often suits a soft arch, an inverted-triangle face often suits a rounded arch, and an oval face can suit several shapes. The final design should be drawn and checked on your own face at consultation.

Why Face Shape Comes First

Eyebrows frame the eyes and set the balance of the whole face. Change the arch or the tail by a small amount and the impression can shift from soft to sharp. At Gyul Clinic, design begins with the face as a whole: forehead width, cheekbone width, jawline, and the natural brow line you already have.

Round Faces

A round face has soft curves and similar width and length. The aim is to add a little definition without making the face look severe. A gentle angular arch can give the face more structure, with the highest point slightly above the outer part of the iris and the tail tapering without dropping too low. Avoid a very high, sharp peak, and avoid a completely flat brow, which can make the face look wider.

Long Faces

A long face has more length than width, often with a longer forehead or chin. The aim is to avoid adding extra vertical lift. A straighter brow, with only a low and gentle arch, can help the face look more balanced. Keep the arch low and the line calm, and avoid a high peak that draws the eye upward. The tail should end near the outer corner of the eye.

Square Faces

A square face has a strong jawline and a broad forehead. The aim is to soften the angles without hiding the character of the face. A soft arch works well for many square faces: the curve is smooth rather than pointed, and the peak is rounded. Avoid a very flat brow, which can emphasise width, and a very sharp angle, which can add to the angular impression. A shade close to your natural hair colour usually looks more natural than one much darker.

Inverted-Triangle Faces

An inverted-triangle face has a wider forehead and a narrower, more pointed chin. The aim is to soften the forehead and keep the lower face from looking too narrow. A rounded arch can work well here, with a gentle curve, a low peak, and a soft tail. If your forehead is broad, the inner part of the brow should not be drawn too close together. A little space between the brows usually looks more natural.

Oval Faces

An oval face is longer than it is wide, with a gently curved jawline and balanced proportions. It is often described as the most flexible face shape for eyebrow design. Many shapes can suit it: a soft arch, a gentle straight brow, or a slightly defined arch. The choice usually comes down to personal taste. That flexibility is also a reason to be careful, because it is easy to follow a trend instead of choosing what suits you.

Hair-Stroke, Powder, or a Combination?

Hair-stroke brows use fine strokes that follow real hair, for a natural look. Powder brows give a soft, shaded finish, similar to brow makeup. Combination brows use hair strokes at the front with soft shading through the body and tail. Your skin type, existing brow hair, and the look you want all affect the choice. Oily skin, sparse brows, and previous semi-permanent makeup are discussed at consultation.

What to Check at Your Consultation

Bring a clear idea of what you like and what you do not like. Talk through your face shape, your natural brow hair, your skin type and any previous brow work, and your preferred colour in relation to your hair colour. A good consultation should include a drawn design you can see and discuss before any procedure begins. If the shape does not feel right, say so. It is much easier to adjust a drawing than a finished result.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my two brows are not symmetrical? Most faces are not perfectly symmetrical. The design should aim for balance that looks natural on your face, not for an identical pair.

Should I bring photos to the consultation? Yes. Photos of brows you like, and photos of your own brows without makeup, both help the designer understand your starting point.
