Natural-looking eyebrow semi-permanent makeup in Seoul starts with design, not with colour. At Gyul Clinic in Gangnam, hair-stroke brows are drawn one stroke at a time to follow the direction of your own brow hair, face shape, and expression. The aim is brows that look like brows, not like makeup drawn on the skin. Final design and colour are decided at consultation, and results vary from person to person.

What are hair-stroke brows?
Hair-stroke brows use fine strokes that imitate single brow hairs. The strokes follow your natural hair direction and fill only where hair is sparse, uneven, or missing. This is different from a solid filled brow, which covers the whole brow area with even colour, and from a combination brow, which mixes strokes with soft shading. The right choice depends on your hair amount, skin type, and the look you want. Your artist should explain the difference at consultation and show the design before treatment begins.
At Gyul Clinic, brow design draws on sagunja brush principles, including the line of the orchid and the joint of the bamboo. In practical terms, that brush-stroke idea means each hair-like stroke is shaped to your bone structure and muscle movement, not copied from a template. Bring photos of brows you like and brows you do not like. Both help at consultation.
How is the brow shape decided?
The shape is decided in person, after your face is checked. Your artist will check brow bone, eye spacing, forehead balance, natural hair direction, and how your brows move when you speak and smile. The design is drawn and checked with you before treatment. If the shape does not suit you, say so at this stage. Colour is also checked at consultation, against your skin tone and hair colour. A colour that suits another person may look too warm, too cool, too dark, or too grey on your skin.
If you have almost no brow hair, have very fair hair, or have scars in the brow area, tell the clinic in advance. The design approach and the expected result may be different, and previous tattooing in the brow area may need a separate consultation first.
What does healing look like?
Colour often looks darker and the brow may look thicker in the first few days. This is a normal part of early healing. Flaking follows, and the colour softens as the skin heals. Do not pick or scratch flakes. Keep the area clean and dry as directed on the aftercare sheet you receive, and avoid saunas, swimming, and long sun exposure in the early healing period. The final result cannot be judged reliably in the first few days.
Semi-permanent brows are designed to fade over time, usually over 1 to 2 years. Some residual colour can remain, and removal can be difficult, so please decide at consultation as a long-term decision. Retention depends on skin type, aftercare, sun exposure, and other individual factors. Oily skin, strong sun, and some medicines and skin treatments can affect how long colour lasts. Ask at consultation how follow-up and photo review work, especially if you will return home overseas soon after treatment.
Who are hair-stroke brows for?
Hair-stroke brows suit people who want a natural result and still have some brow hair to follow, and people who want to correct sparse tails, uneven brows, or gaps without a solid filled look. They are less suited as a first choice for people who want a strong makeup look every day, or who have very oily skin and want a long-lasting filled result. In those cases, your artist may suggest a different technique or a combination. There is no single best brow for every face. The best brow is the one designed for your face and checked with you before treatment.
Sensitivity varies from person to person. Numbing cream is used, and your artist will explain numbing and aftercare at the appointment. Ask about anything you are unsure about before treatment begins.

Questions about eyebrow semi-permanent makeup
Will hair-stroke brows look drawn on?
They should not look drawn on when the strokes follow your hair direction and the shape suits your face. The design check before treatment is the time to correct anything that looks too strong, too long, or too high.
How long do semi-permanent eyebrows last?
They are designed to fade over time, usually over 1 to 2 years. How long they last for you depends on skin type, aftercare, sun exposure, and other individual factors.
What if I have previous eyebrow tattooing?
Tell the clinic before you book. Previous work, including faded blue, red, or grey brows, may need a separate consultation before a new design can be planned. Do not assume new strokes can cover old work in every case.
