Lip Blush Semi-Permanent Makeup in Seoul: Natural Colour and Healing

Lip blush should look like healthy lips, not like lipstick. At Gyul Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, lip blush adds a soft wash of colour matched to your natural lip tone, so lips look as if they have a natural flush even without makeup. Colour looks darker just after treatment and softens as the lips heal. Final colour and suitability are decided at consultation, and results vary from person to person.

How is the lip colour chosen?

Colour is chosen against your own lips, not against a photo of someone else's lips. Your artist will check your natural lip tone, lip border, lip shape, and skin tone, and will show the colour choice at consultation. A colour that looks natural on warm skin may look too cool or too grey on cool skin, and a colour that suits full lips may overwhelm thin lips. The aim is a healthy flush that suits your face when you wear no makeup, and that still looks balanced when you wear makeup on top.

Lip design also covers shape. Uneven borders, a pale border, or lips that look washed out can be softened with colour, but lip blush does not change lip size or volume in the way filler does. If you want a larger or fuller lip shape, discuss it at consultation so your artist can explain what colour alone can and cannot do. Bring photos of colours you like and colours you do not like. Lipstick shades you wear every day are useful information, but the settled colour will be softer than the colour you see just after treatment.

Why does lip colour look dark at first?

Just after treatment, pigment sits near the surface, so colour looks darker than the settled result. Flaking follows over about 3 to 7 days. Colour looks darker just after treatment and softens as the lips heal. That change is expected. Do not judge the final colour in the first few days, and do not pick or peel flakes. Keep lips moisturised as directed on the aftercare sheet you receive, and protect lips from strong sun in the early healing period.

Swelling is common after lip work, and sensitivity varies from person to person. Lips are thin and sensitive skin, so swelling and tenderness may be more noticeable than after brow work. Follow the aftercare sheet you receive, including any medicine or ointment instructions given to you at the clinic. This post does not give medicine dosages. If swelling, pain, blistering, or fever gets worse, seek local medical care promptly and contact the clinic.

What if my lips are often dry, cracked, or sore?

Tell the clinic about your lip condition before you book. Lips with flaking, cracks, or inflammation are usually not treated on the day. Colour does not settle evenly on irritated skin, and healing is slower. Your artist may advise moisturising care first and treatment once the lips have settled. If you use lip balm often, or exfoliate your lips, say so at consultation and ask how to prepare your lips in the days before treatment. Do not start a new strong lip treatment just before your appointment without asking.

If you have a history of cold sores on the lips, tell the clinic before you book. Treatment can trigger a flare in people with a history of cold sores, and the clinic may advise preventive care before treatment. Do not hide this history. A flare after treatment can lengthen healing and affect the result. Ask at consultation what preventive care applies to your case, and follow the instructions you receive. If you have an active cold sore on the day, treatment should be postponed. Tell the clinic as soon as you notice it.

How long does lip blush last?

Lip blush is designed to fade over time, usually over 2 to 3 years. Retention depends on skin type, aftercare, sun exposure, lip care, and other individual factors. Colour change is more noticeable on lips than on brows, because lips are watched closely and colour sits in thin skin. As colour fades, ask the clinic about review and follow-up. Do not assume a fixed retouch schedule. Colour may fade unevenly, and some residual colour can remain. Removal can be difficult, so decide at consultation with the long term in mind. Ask at consultation how follow-up and photo review work, especially if you will return home overseas soon after treatment.

Questions about lip blush

Will lip blush be too dark?

It should not settle too dark when colour is matched to your natural lip tone and the softening during healing is allowed for. Colour looks darker just after treatment and softens over about 3 to 7 days of flaking. Check the colour choice at consultation and say if it looks too strong for you.

What if I have a history of cold sores?

Tell the clinic before you book. Treatment can trigger a flare, and preventive care may be advised. Do not hide this history, and postpone treatment if you have an active cold sore.

Can lip blush fix uneven lip shape?

Colour can soften an uneven border and a pale border, but it does not change lip size or volume. Discuss shape limits at consultation before treatment.
